Which Vow2:

Firstly decide if your engine is capable of running on veg oil.

Next decide how much oil you intend to use.

Now the tricky bit. The faster the fuel flow and the higher the % of oil the bigger the heater. If you can fit the D or DW as they offer the best heating. For example a 2L Bosh pump works well on a D+ unit. While 1.6L on 60% works well on a C+ unit. I cannot advise you as to which unit is best for you as it depends on so many variables. What works on one car might not be as good on a similar engine.

100% is possible but not on all cars. It depends on time of year, 80% ish winter for most. Pump type lower for Lucas than Bosh as well as general condition of the engine. HDi and common rail don't convert well and suite twin tanks.

In most cases a heater is all that is needed but sometimes a separate water heater for cars with unheated fuel filters may be needed or a looped fuel return.

This type of conversion does have a down side. Cold starts are a little harder and additional stress is placed on the pump. This could shorten the life of the pump. No Bosh pumps have failed but 4 Lucas pumps have failed in the last 2 years.

Units aren't geared to engine size simply because even the same engines with different pumps have a different flow rate. It is the flow rate, % oil and filter type that decide the heater to use. We have made 2 main versions the 1 or 2 plug unit. A, C and E are 1 plug for slow flows or low % of oil. The B, D, F and DW are for faster flow or high % of oil.

The A is a single plug single chamber heater ,Small flow or small % oil for cars with heated filters.
The B is a twin plug single chamber heater, Larger flow or larger % oil for cars with heated filters.

The twin chamber units have a pre filter heater for cars without heated filters.

The C is as A but with pre filter heat for cars without heated filters.
The D is as B but with pre filter heat for cars without heated filters.

The 15mm chamber is for coolant water assisted heating for those who wish to make use of coolant heat to help heat the oil.

The E is as A but with water assist.
The F is as B but with water assist.

The DW is as B but has water assist and a pre filter heater for cars without heated filters.

Even with a heater oil flow rate and % may be to high and you may also have to fit a water heater as well or a tiger loop to recalculate already heated oil.

Ask about, check on the forum http://vow2.21.forumer.com/ . Fit the biggest heater you can.

You should have your battery and alternator checked before fitting. This ensures you wont have a flat battery.

You should also ensure ALL engine glow plugs are working well otherwise starting will be more difficult.

You might consider have your injectors cleaned.

E and F and DW units cannot be fully turned off so are unsuitable if you intend to use 100% diesel at any point. Heated diesel looses its lubrication and must have some veg oil mixed with it. 10% should be enough.

Don't forget to get back to me with the results so I can update the list on the forum for other people. You can use the Vow2 units to supplement water exchangers in twin tank systems to allow quicker changeover times.

If you have a Vow2 working with an engine let me know Size in CC, Oil/Diesel and Unit type so that I can pass on the details.....
