Installation of the Vow2

All the units are much the same. Each will come with the following Diagram.

This is how your fuel system might look.

This is how you might place a Single or twin unit.

A Vow2C and 2D unit is designed to fit like this.

PLEASE NOTE THE UNIT IS SHOWN UPSIDE DOWN WITH THE PLUG AT THE BOTTOM

The using of Veg oil or Bio diesel or any other alternative fuel in your vehicle is entirely at your own risk. Not every vehicle is capable of running on cooking oil at a high % and it is your responsibility to determine if your vehicle is suitable for use with alternative fuels.

If you fit the direct heater chamber after your main filter it is possible that carbon or partials may pass through the pump and injectors. For this reason you are advised to use the small inline filter before the pump. However it is worth noting that most pumps have a small built in filter but this can be very hard to clean.

Some comments from people who have fitted units.

I run a 306 1.9 d-turbo. Just fitted the vow2F I have run it around for about a week on 90% veggie oil mixed with diesel. The car runs exactly the same as normal diesel if not better. Very pleased with the product and would recommend to anybody running a diesel.

Thanks a lot vow2

Michael

I have seen the "wanta-be's" who want to give you guys so much trouble and I want to encourage you and your fine group by saying: If it does'nt say VOW2 on the label it's not even worth the postage. I could'nt think of driving my mercedes(or next one)without your fine products! Sincerly I remain, John

((**After extensive testing mounting the unit flat, that is with the plugs at the side, or with the plugs at the top is the best way to mount the Vow2s **))

I have a 200tdi defender with a twin tank conversion. The vow2b will not heat the the fuel much more than 40oc as the pumps flow rate is much too high (don't know why they designed it with such a high flow rate), but I looped the injector return line back into the intake line and so it is grate as it heats the oil and the hot oil is returned through the pump and through the filter making them hot as well before I switch to veg. I have now put the fuel line from the fuel filter to the vow2b inside the engine coolant pipe. The vow2b between the coolant pipe and the injector works perfect as the coolant heats it to about 75oc and the vow2b brings it up to the (crucial in my opinion) 85oc before the injector. this is also grate to keep it up to temp when I'm winching or powering something and the landy is idling and the coolant temp drops. Congrats on a grate design cheers from Jack C

Vow2C in an N-Reg Vauxhall Vectra 1.7TD

The car is running happily at the moment under hot summer temperatures on almost 100% pure vegetable oil (new veg. oil mixed with a small amount of kitchen waste veg. oil). There is so far no engine starting problem both in the morning or at night time. In fact, the engine seems to be running smoother now than it was before with the diesel! There is no sign of any black smoke from the exhaust and it smells great and cleaner too!

I have attached couple of photographs with this email about the locations of the fitted Vow2C fuel heater and the Ignition +ve Live Lead. The fitting of the Vow2C and its electrics into the engine bay of the Vectra 1.7TD was fairly straight forward because the existing diesel fuel filter has an in-built electric heater element with a temperature sensor fitted on the top just behind the cylinder head. As you can see the Vow2C was literally fitted on the left next to the fuel filter with the unit glow plug facing the front for easy electric connection and plug replacement in future! (Not just that the unit is tilting at an angle so that the glow plug is at lower in front for any possible air bubbles not to be trapped in the glow plug chamber but rise up towards
the back to flow in the fuel line.) The system is fitted so neat and tidy that you could hardly notice the bits and pieces are there at all!

Because the Vow2C incorporates both pre and post filter fuel heating. To achieve tight and neat connections of the pipe work to the Vow2 unit,
it is far more easier if both the In-flow and Out-flow of the fuel line to the diesel filter were first disconnected by undoing the two copper coupling nut and bolt respectively. When the appropriate in-flow and out-flow pipes are cut to lengths, they are ready to be connected to the Vow2 before final connection back in the engine bay. To achieve post filter direct heating, care is taken to ensure that the out-flow from the filter is connected correctly in the right direction to the primary glow plug direct heating chamber circuit of the unit before returning to the injector pump. One may argue that the direction of flow in the secondary indirect heating chamber of the unit is not all that important for pre-filter heating (do you agree?), I have here actually reversed the flow direction as indicated on the unit because of limited space and pipe length to reconnect this part.

In the second photograph, it clearly shows the Vow2 relay together with all the wirings are neatly placed inside the existing relay box of the
Vectra on the right hand side of the diesel filter. The electrical connection of the Ignition +ve Live Feed is immediately available under
the yellow relay (The thin yellow & black wire). The red +ve fused supply and black -ve cables from the Vow2 Relay can now run straight
through the rubber grommet to the battery sitting in front of it. I have also added a cheap digital thermometer with a stick-on remote sensor
(about £5) fitted on the outer body (above the heated flow chamber) of the Vow2C to monitor its service temperature. It registers to above 50
degrees C in less than 10 minutes from cold start in town (the actual temperature of the heated oil inside the chamber is undoubtedly higher because of thermal contact resistance in the sticky pad of the plastic sensor unit).
