Prices set to rise .
This last week has seen almost all of our costs rising. Most noticeably is a rise of between 50p and a £1 in the cost of post. We have held off passing on this cost but as more of the key components are also going up it is expected that a small increase in unit costs is inevitable. We are holding off price increases for as long as possible so if you intend to buy I recommend sooner rather than later.
2.5% Bio
New legislation dated 15th April 2008 means all petrol and diesel sold at UK pumps now must contain at least 2.5% biofuels. This target is expected to rise to 5% by 2010. So all cars in the UK will contain some Bio. If your one of the thousands who have been too worried to add bio or veg to your car then worry not, your already doing it.
21/3/8
Packing
We have had a couple of comments about packing getting in the fuel chambers. As a result we are now capping the couplers (with tape at this point) so that packing cannot enter the chambers.
We are constantly asked for 24v versions but as yet we have been unable to find any 24v glow plugs that can last in this application. We will keep looking and testing.
The water heaters have a North North orientation for the fuel couplers. We are also able to offer North South orientation, That is fuel in at the top and out at the bottom. . This is the same heater as before.

12/3/8 Quiet
Well it has been very quiet this past month or two. We have had no new news to inform you off until now.
We are now aware of another 2 fuel pump failures 1 a Lucas and one a Bosh. The Lucas was on a very high % of oil which failed on a very cold night. The other a Bosh pump I have just been informed failed due to an electric fault and not due to SVO. Other Lucas runners have not reported any faults yet but most are on a low oil % or Twin tanks.
Nearly Xmas 13/12/7
We are just about to go live with the new shopping basket so if you experience any problems ordering please let us know. This is the first step of a complete site update but may take some time to complete. We aim to update a little at a time rather than change the whole site in one go only to find half of it isn't working.
A friend has asked me to list his car on this site as it is duel fuel and runs on Diesel and Veg oil.
For Sale our Fourtrak/Rocky
independent 4x4 £1395
ono.
It’s a 1994 M reg vehicle.
It was bought for us by my husband, but I cant get into it very well as I have
Multiple sclerosis. He is gutted but it has to go
It
is in very good condition for the year and has 1 years full MOT. It has been wax
oiled. Iit has had 2 brand new sills for the MOT. It has had a cam belt kit
fitted (on the 9th same day as the mot), the engine is very good as they all are
This
one runs very nice on a mixture of diesel and vegetable oil 50x50 mix and with
the car comes a brand new VOW2 heater as seen on Ebay, this should allow 90/100%
veg oil to be used, so it will be even cheaper running for some one.
I
have a pair of side steps not fitted yet but the will go with it
The rear tyre cover is an independent one to match the car.
The
only bad point is my husband purchased the three dials on the dash ,from Ebay
and the volt meter does not work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
Please
Email me for any questions ect.
Xmass auction. 10/12/7
As promised the Xmass auction will end in the next 24 Hours. If you want the items then now is the time to bid.

Alas Xmass is but once a year and you may not get another one like this until then. Item SOLD
Xmass again. 5/12/7
We would like to wish our past and our potential customers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Well we are into December again. Can't understand where the year got to. We note that Diesel is still around 1.08p a liter and we spotted one today at 110.9p. An announcement today stated that they see no reason to increase oil production at this time, which is just another way of saying we like the high price as it is more profit for us.
November was a reasonably busy month especially with requests for advice. We keep being asked to recommend a heater or conversion kit for specific vehicles. We cannot do this so please don't ask. You need to work out if you car will work on oil by checking or going to forums ect as we couldn't possibly know every car nor has every type of engine been converted yet. HDi don't do well due to lack of engine glow plugs and tend to suit twin tanks better, However a twin tank, switch and heater needed cost £££££. Shop around and avoid the words Bio and Veg. Common rail gives a lower conversion % and Lucas pumps are more prone to premature failure, this must be considered and accepted as a risk if single tanking. On that note we now count 4 Lucas pumps in the last 2 years.
We have listed another Xmass auction. Started at £1 but it already has bids on so get in quick if you want it. You get a DW+, water heater, washable glass filter, temp gauge adapter, spare plugs and WVO small filters.

As before this item will end early and go to the highest bidder. Click here to view items.
Latest news. 30/10/7
Well it's been quiet in September with nothing of note happening and a little busier this month. The electric car is ready for its road tax now as the MOT and Log Book are done. More on this on the forum. The forum is doing well and getting some good info and help on it, However I would still like to see a bigger list of converted cars on it.
It's at this time you should be checking your engine plugs and having your battery and alternator checked ready for the 0oC and below nights that are coming. Remember adding a little diesel can also help with the really cold nights and make starting easier in the mornings. You should have already been adding injector cleaner periodically but if not then now would be a good time to do it.
We are currently working on a 24V version of all the units as we have had a number of requests. Early tests look good but we are unsure about plug life so more work to do I think before they are available. The 24V plugs burns out in seconds when in air and are more sensitive than the 12V ones so this could be a real problem.
We have had yet more problems with units going missing in the post and the poor tracking offered by normal signed for post. This has lead to annoyed customers and lost revenue which isn't good for anybody. We have therefore decided to send all units on Next Day by 1pm as the tracking is much better and we should stop loosing units. This inevitably is going to cost a little more but you get your units next day, we can track them and they are fully insured in the event they do go missing. Please however do bear in mind postage costs aren't just the cost of the stamp. I have lost count of the Emails asking for a refund of post as the stamp wasn't the post price paid. Please remember post is , Processing, Box, Label and Ink, Water proof bag, Transport and stamp costs. If you are unhappy with the post price please consider this before purchasing not after.
What a month. 31/8/8
We have had reports of 2 failed pumps this month. This is the first 2 since the start. Now it's imposable to say what caused the pumps to fail and a number of pumps are going to fail even on diesel so it's not to worrying. One was a Lucas on a Renault traffic A reg previously running on Bio. I urge caution when converting Lucas and Common rail systems. While many have been converted it is well known that Lucas and Common rail systems are more problematic with the highest potential for problems. If it's ultimate reliability you need use diesel. If it is minimal risk you then use twin tanks. If you want cheap and accept that now and again you will have the odd problem then single tanks.
We are very disappointed with the number of converted details left on the Forum. We had hoped to build up a list of vehicles so that potential converters could find out if a car like theirs had been converted. I have had 2 attempts to encourage details but not with any great success. This list should have hundreds and hundreds of details in it. I know that when you did your research you were looking for a list like this, and I also know that once converted you have little time for filling in details as it's not really important any more. I appeal to you good nature to send in or list you details for the good of all the other users, Please, Pretty Please, Go on you know you want to, It's quick..
I have had yet another blatant copier. Anthony Pinnock copied a unit sold to him and was selling it. I have stopped him but it amazes me that nobody takes any notice of the DO NOT COPY warnings. I hadn't realized how many people there are out there that will try to rip you off.
My electric car failed it's MOT this week. Oh not on any of the conversion stuff, it failed for excess play in the rear axel pin/bearing. Changed the axel and retest is on Tuesday. Even the push bike Speedo was passed as totally acceptable. Once passed I have to get the details changed at DVLA and collect my free tax disk. I know I should have done this months ago but it's a hobby and as such only gets a few hours hear and there so it takes much longer than it should.
NO MORE TAX
2/7/7
Well it's happened. As of now if you use less than 2500L a year you can do it Tax free and legal. There is no reason why everybody with a diesel shouldn't be using some oil even if it's only the dirty oil from their fryer (Filtered of course).. You can add 5% without voiding the warranty and without doing anything to the car. Everybody should be doing this.
If you don't have a warranty then add 10%. You still don't need to do anything to the car. If you have a bosh pump add up to 20% and you still don't need to do anything to the car. If you have a bosh pump and a heated filter add 30%. Beyond this you will need to heat the oil or damage will be caused. There are so many solutions out there ranging in price from £20-£30 up to £1000 or more.
Busy week 22/6/7
We have had a strange week. A company contacted us as they felt our designs infringed on there's. It turns out this west cost company have been dabbling in alternative fuel for a number of years but mainly in the supply of fuel and not conversions. After some checking and lots of emails it turns out they do have some designs registered that pre date ours but fortunately for us they are not conflicting with ours "just" and our rights still stand. They have expressed an interest in buying the Vow2 brand to add to their own. We have considered selling the brand but the offer was a little low and they don't seem interested in raising it.
***************************************************************************
We have had loads of emails about the change in tax and can confirm that it's all true. No tax as of the end of this month as long as you produce less than 2500L a year. We have a feeling not everybody is going to fit heaters though as a large number are adding just 20% and running without heating. Perhaps they will add heaters later when they feel sure it works.
***************************************************************************
We are a little concerned with the number of systems available as a number of them are very poor. We still keep coming across copper heat exchangers. This isn't going to show itself yet with a lot of the systems as the problems caused by poor systems will only show after a couple of winters running on oil that is too cold. Shot term savings = long term cost. The number of people running on oil is staggering and is starting to affect the price of oil. While still much cheaper than diesel and far cleaner (which is great for the MOT) clean oil has gone from 45p L to 49-62.67p L. Only a modest rise I know but still not good. Dirty oil is getting harder to get as more and more we are finding you have to pay for it.
Breaking News 11/6/7
I have just been informed that Johns oil is now able to supply quantities of fresh oil to people in the Yorkshire area at below supermarket prices. This comes just in time as duty will be lifted at the end of the month. He is wanting to hear from people who would like fresh oil. All amounts are catered for from 20L upto 1000L+. You should visit the website or better still drop him an email for more details at Johns oil. I am not sure what delivery range he is dealing with but it is worth an ask. I know as I have my order in already.
About time 10/6/7
It would now seem that we have over loaded and broken the Tax
on Veg and Bio by filling in our EX103 forms and swamping the office.. This link
explains http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/briefs
The latest on this: http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/si/2007-1640-em.pdf
If this is true and goes ahead this month then WVO will be free if you use 2500L or less a year and SVO will be 50p a L. With no forms to fill in and 2500L a year limit more people will be able to switch over to oil without any fuss. With a 50% cut in fuel costs and cheap heaters being the only expense there has never been a better or cheaper time to convert. This will be reviewed in a years time so make the most of it while you can.
End of another month. 2/6/7
We have made a draw for the refund in exchange for details and congratulations go to Steven R who bought a 2D+ unit for his Astra. He has received a full refund of his unit as a thank you for returning his details. I would also like to take the opportunity to thank everybody else who returned details.
We have had a busy month with sales and developments and are now looking at other unit designs to add to the range.
Running out of time. 27/5/7
You now only have a few days left to email you details to be in the draw. Thanks to all the people who have already emailed on this.
I am pleased to see people are reading this page.
Engine details 23/4/7
As nobody seems to be sending in details of there conversions we are now offering a little incentive. Email your name, Car make and model, Vow2 type, engine size, miles on the clock and % oil used to be entered into the draw. The draw will take place at the end of MAY and the prize is a full refund of your Vow2 heater.
Good News. 21/4/7
Our Email problems seem to be behind un now. What a relief. We have had a couple of distressed customers and to them we can only apologies for the inconvenience and assure them that everything is now back to normal. Luckily the disruption didn't affect the majority of you which is a bonus.
We wish to thank our customers over the past year as they have helped to make this our most successful yet. We hope to continue to bring you quality heaters at sensible prices for as long as possible.
We are having communication problems. 5/4/7
For the last few days we have been having communication problems. Over the coming week you may find your Emails unanswered in a timely fashion or delays in order processing while we upgrade our way out of this problem. If you have already ordered don't worry as of today all outstanding Emails and orders have been answered or dispatched. If however you have difficulties in the coming week please be patient as we are working as quickly as we can to fix the problem. We hope to have everything back to normal by the end of the week (13/4/7) at the latest.
Haven't stopped all month. 27/3/7
Been a very busy month this month. I am a little disappointed however with people leaving negative feedback without even Emailing me. If you don't Email to tell me about a problem or ask for a refund then how can I help you or resolve the problem. I aren't too bothered if I get negative feedback but it would be nice to be given the opportunity to resolve any problems. We want happy veg oil customers so please give us the opportunity to fix any problems before leaving negative.
I see we have yet another heater on Ebay using aluminum, plugs and a sensor. It's reassuring to know that our principle is being adopted by all and sundry, quite flattering. Only problem however with this one is the huge block and the location of the plugs . 1 plug before the filter 1 after. I am not convinced that the final heating will get to 90oC with the one plug. A lot of heat from the first plug will be lost in the filter and pipe on the way back to the second plug. The same effect could be had with 2 E units but with twice as much water heating for the same money.
Finally. I have got the Electric car running. I have only added 3 of the 6 batteries but it goes 30mph. Pictures so far are at www.vow2.co.uk/Ecar/Ecar.htm I will add the rest of the pictures and the video when I get 5 mins to myself. It has been a slow job to convert but that's due to trying to keep it as cheap as possible and the weather. It has been reasonably easy to do but I have had the odd moment of head scratching.
Plugs 26/2/7
An alternative plug has been put forward the PADDOCK s 374. (Thanks Chris) We would still like to hear of any other plugs that can be found so that a wide a range as possible can be found.
Feedback on Ebay 25/2/7
I have been left negative feedback by 5*deals (Jonathan Senior). He claims I didn't send his item and wouldn't give his money back. The story so far. He bought from Ebay on the 21/1/7. He paid for it on the 6/2/7. I posted it on the 6/2/7. Delivery was attempted on the 8/2/7. As nobody was in a card should have been left telling him to collect from the post office. On the 22/2/7 he contacted me telling me it hadn't arrived and he wanted his money back as he had bought from elsewhere. I tracked the parcel to his post office where it had been waiting for collection. As nobody had collected it they were returning it to me. As I had posted I explained that I would repost it or refund less post as I had already sent the item. He reported to Paypal and escalated to a claim adding that he wanted a full refund ASAP. Then left negative feedback. He gave me no opportunity to resolve the problem. I now have negative feedback and am out of pocket £10. Please allow us the opportunity to deal with problems if they arise. We are not in control of the post service and things do go wrong.

I have been told. 21/2/7
After some pressure was applied, No names Gavin, I have finally opened a forum. You can find us at http://vow2.forumer.com You can post your experiences, ask questions, upload your photos or just chat about oil in general. I am hoping this will be an opportunity for us to help each other with advice and tips for getting the best out of using oil. PLEASE don't abuse it.
A better week already. 19/2/7
Paypal have refunded me all the money that was taken from my bank account and the cost of exchange into $ a total of £1019.66. Unfortunately they haven't refunded the amount that was in paypal to start with. Luckily only £25. I think this is outrageous but that's the way it is. I recommend anybody with a paypal account to keep it as empty as possible just in case.
*****************************************************************
I strongly urge people to think carefully before buying the cheapest heater as it's not just the heater you are buying. Good support and parts are just as important. The cost over a long term should be considered. lets face it even with tax if you use filtered dirty oil you can save £30 or more from one fill up. Even with our most expensive system if you fill up once a month you can have all of your money back inside of six month. From then on you are saving money. Is it really worth saving £10 on the cost of the bits and ending up with no support and having to buy a new heater after a year or so.
BAD WEEK 16/2/7
Talk about a bad week!!!
Three bits of news for you. First up is "CHANGE YOUR PAYPAL PASSWORD". If you have had fake emails telling you that you have made a payment is $ check you computer for spy ware and change your password. I had these emails but on the 15th I got a real one which had paid £1045.66 out of my paypal and credit card. I reported it and to paypal's credit I heard this morning I am getting it back. I am only getting £1000.17 but we will see about that. Be warned. Some slimy git got into my account and made a payment to himself. He filed the transaction so it wouldn't show on the summary page. I guess he was hoping I wouldn't notice it. Well luckily I did 4 hours after he had done it.
*****************************************************************
Next bit of news for you is filters. I will not be sending any more small sock filters with orders as I have just about run out now. I am however going to send inline filters. As I recommend you fit one after the heater and before the pump I felt I should really include one in the kit. So from now on I will add one like the one pictured to every heater. This will not affect the price at all. If I can get more of the small sock filters I may well send them as well. If you would like to suggest something to include with the kit along with the key rings, inline filters and sock filters then drop me a line and I will see what can be done.
Plugs 12/2/7
It has come to light that the normal plugs cannot be found in the US. This is due to the engine this plug was originally for, XUD, was never used in the US. If you have a Vow2 and have found a suitable replacement plug I would appreciate the model number. Or if you know of an equivalent to the NGK Y924J or Wellman 631 I would like to hear from you. Failing this if anybody is willing to find a replacement based on the physical dimensions of the original I would like to hear from you as well. A suitable replacement for the Vow2 plug needs to be found so that people all over the world can get plugs locally. Please help if you can.
Fitting 27/12/6
A customer has asked for details of somebody who will be willing to fit their heater. As I don't know anybody in their area this is an appeal for a willing fitter. They are in the S Wales (Bridgend area). I would like to hear from somebody in the area who would be willing to help for a small fee.
I am also interested is contact details and areas of anybody willing to fit heaters (for a price) in there area. I will list your details and area on a fitting page where people can get it touch with you directly. Those of you who have fitted already know how easy they are so help out the others. Simply Email me with your Name, Email and area you are in. Email Fitting@Vow2.co.uk
Electric car 15/12/6
Well the motor and controller are due to arrive in the next day or 2 so it's all systems go for the car. I have stripped out the engine, ancillaries and fuel tank and refitted the gearbox. I have encountered a few problems but most were expected. I have to provide for the vacuum assisted brake servo but a vacuum pump for a 406 and a 12V drill motor will do this no problem. I need to do something with the Speedo as this one goes through the ECU which isn't in the car anymore. I may redesign the dash pod with new gauges so I can add state of charge indicators. I expect to be using a fenner coupling to join the motor to gear box. I will run the full 72V system as a 48V one did only 40 something MPH uphill. Once the motor comes I should have a working car in a few days. It may well take a few weeks to work out the bugs and get all the batteries in.
I expect to go over budget on my original estimate but I still expect to have a fully electric car with plenty of extras for less than £3000. This compares well with the 6-8000 charged by some for similar conversions.
The next step is to mount a small diesel (Sorry Veg oil) engine in a trailer with 6 100Amp alternators. This I hope will allow long range trips with the trailer on and very economical short range when its off.

Very quiet this month 22/11/6
It has been a quiet month with very little happening. I can however report that we now have a small supply of 5 micron filters that hold 20L aprox. We don't intend to make a habit of selling them but we have found ourselves with some if anybody wants one.
As the temperature drops people are having more difficulty starting. I am still on 100% oil with little or no trouble as are a number of others. As it gets colder there are a few things you should do to ensure trouble free motoring. Call in and get your battery and alternator checked. A lot of places offer this free. Even Dino fueled cars have this simple step recommended but with oil and an electric heater it is all the more important. When the diesel heater light goes out turn the ignition off and back on. This will cycle the engine plugs again and add a bit of extra heat. This can be repeated a few times. The extra heat in the cylinders will make it much easier to start. You can also add some diesel to the oil to aid cold starting. lets face it you haven't had to go to the petrol station all year and 10% diesel over the coldest months isn't going to bankrupt you.
It has become apparent that nobody has compared the coking found on Diesel injectors to that of oil injectors. I keep being asked about the amount of coking. After checking hundreds of Diesel injectors I have found that the amount of coking is the same. It is a good idea however to have the injectors cleaned of Dino deposits when you convert to oil. This shouldn't be expensive I believe I paid £28 an injector to have them re-tipped so cleaning should be cheaper. This will ensure a clean start for the oil. The cost of adding a heater and having the battery and injectors checked/cleaned is way less than a twin tank. Even replacing the injectors for brand new ones still costs less than a twin tank. With the environmental benefits and cost savings you can't loose.
I had both my cars MOTd this month with some great results. The limit for my car is 3.00 and 1.5 for fast pass. The first passed with 1.05 running on 100% oil. The second passed with 0.52 also on 100% oil. The tester was quite happy with the result as were we. Last years reading was 1.53 which means after running this year it has come way down. On Dino both were reading 2.84 with one a heavy smoker. We have put this down to having the Dino injectors re-tipped as well as a decrease of soot in the exhaust.
I am now working on my first Electric car. I know it's not veg oil powered but I will be using an oil generator to charge it so that counts, right. We haven't got far yet and plenty of pictures will be taken. I will add a separate page explaining step by step how it has been done. Total cost is expected to be £2500. This will not stop work on developing the Vow2 range as it is a spare time project, As is the windmill.
O M G I thought it had been a quiet month.
Unpleasant Email. 24/10/6
Why is it that when people aren't getting there own way they resort to sending threatening Emails. I hope they don't expect us to suddenly cave and give in to bully boy tactics. We have just been threatened with Ebay eviction, The VAT man, Court action, trading standards ect ect buy a guy that we won't name. All this because we refused to send a replacement sensor. We asked the customer to return the unit for repair. The reason is simple, If he fits it no more warranty. Looking at the Emails we have had this would have been simpler but never mind. Our policy is clear on faulty goods. Send it back and you can have a repair, replacement or a refund. We do not and never will send out parts.
Somebody should explain to this guy that you catch more fly's with honey than with vinegar.
EMAIL 14/10/6
Hopefully I have now sorted out the Email problem so I should be able to respond quickly to ALL the emails. It's been a real pain but it was all Wanadoo's fault. It is blacklisted on a number of filter programs so I have changed providers. All of the email address are just the same though so don't worry. Just send your email to the normal addresses and I will get them.
FREE FILTERS
I have a supply of small 5 micron bag filters. I will be sending one with each heater order so you can have a go at filtering your own dirty oil. While stocks last. Simply fill the bag with the oil from your deep fat fryer and hang it over a bucket (A clean one). The oil in the bucket can go straight in your tank. Yes it's that simple. For larger amounts you should try a large bag filter (20L) which can be had from Johns oil.
Indirect heaters.
I have had a couple of these now. People who bought an indirect were having cold start problems after fitting one. They have moved it to before the filter and added a Vow2A unit after the filter. This gives them the heat they need at a speed that works for them. If you are having this problem a similar solution may work for you.
New development. 1/10/6
As I mentioned before we will shortly be using NGK Y924J glow plugs in all of our heaters. This has two benefits for you as you will get a quality plug that should now be more reliable and last longer. You will also be able to buy this plug in any good car parts outlet in all of the counties we ship to. Added to this we have pioneered a new development with fitting plugs into the flow of oil the + system. I don't wish to give to much away on this site as I know Gergg380 reads this site. Suffice it to say that I have found a way to eliminate the vapor lock problem and any possible air ingress whilst potentially extending plug life by as much as 6 months. Along with this it should make plug replacement quick and simple.
Indirect heaters 27/9/6
I note that the indirect heaters are still doing quite well. I am not sure that the people buying them realise that for a single tank conversion speed of heating is essential, hell it's the whole point. This indirect method might well be ok for supplemental heating or primary heating in a duel tank I am certain its not effective in a single tank conversion. The time taken to heat the block and then the fuel is much longer and has all the same problems as the water heaters (except no copper). The point of glow plug heating surly is to heat fast, really fast. I would very much like to have my unit independently tested against one of these other types of heaters. I know if I test it myself the results will not be accepted so I shall arrange for an independent time to heat and flow heat test for both makes of indirect heaters I have seen. I will publish the results as soon as I get them.
On another note we will shortly be supplying ALL vow2 heaters with NGK glow plugs. We have secured a supply of top quality NGK plugs which should extend plug life and reduce the number of premature failures we encounter. This I am happy to report will not increase the cost of units to you. We are still committed to bringing you the cheapest, high quality heaters we can. This isn't easy as cheap and quality are not normally good friends.
I am now available to take phone calls on the works number 07753419322. Office hours for calls but a text can be sent at any time.
EMAIL 15/9/6
For some time now I have been finding it hard to respond to some Emails. They get returned to me by SpamCop. In some cases I can respond eventually but in some I am completely unable to get through.
If you have Emailed me and have not had a response within 24Hours then you can assume I am unable to respond. In this instance please provide an alternative Email or Phone number I can fax or call you on.
Chris E???? Emailed on 15th and I am unable to respond.
A few items this week. 9/9/6
If you have a computer and you keep ALL of your details, Family pics and other important stuff. MAKE A BACKUP. I just crashed my hard drive and lost the lot. I had a copy on another drive but that ended up corrupted as well!!!! I have recovered all the Vow2 data and most of the other stuff but I have lost some items. I now run an external drive backup system. Be warned as it is a real pain.
How do I pronounce my products name. Well its VOW as in "I Vow To" not V. O. W. Not a big deal I know but it sounds really odd when when I hear it spelt.
Plugs don't seem to be a big problem any more but I have had reports of the odd rogue relay and sensor. I have also done some testing on looping the back to tank line (Return) into the fuel filter intake and had some impressive results. I know some of you are already doing this but anybody who wants the plug to be on less while still giving great heat might wish to try it. There is a trade off however as the fuel in the tank will not be heated anymore.
Many thanks to the Feedback Mailers and the odd person who is so happy with there unit after a few months they just had to tell me. It gives a person a warm glow "Pun intended" to be appreciated.
What is with people 26/8/6
I cannot go away for a few days without people taking the Mick.
A direct copy, hang on it's not a copy I recognize those wires, has appeared on Ebay. This is a C unit sold by sparkey2006 shame on you. This item has copyright and Ebay have been notified. Any more sales will result in action being taken. Bit silly of you to say you are in Weston Super Mare as I only sent 1 C there with that configuration and it went to angellicaa (Named and Shamed.)
My apologies to those of you who have been stressing this week and not being able to get in touch. I think I have now answered all the pending Emails. If you still haven't had a reply please Email again. All goods ordered have been shipped already with the exception of two units ordered on the 21st which will be shipped as soon as the post office is open on Tuesday.
I would also like to thank people for the photos and links I have been sent I do appreciate your help.
This website will be getting updated later this year and I will try and add a forum. I would appreciate any info you feel is useful to others along with personal accounts of conversions and experiences. It all helps and it all makes it easier for others.
END OF ANOTHER MONTH 2/8/6
Thank you to James, Shek, Paul and Philip for sending full details of their conversions and including pictures. Paul was selected at random to receive 2 Free plugs + Vow2 Polo shirt.. I did say it was a small thank you.
Starting this month I will be sending out a free Vow2 key-ring with every order.
On another note I see that a German is selling a unit that is not unlike my F unit. It does however have indirect heating which is a lot less efficient and may lead to early plug failure. This will become more evident in the winter. I hope the people buying them are aware of this. He is getting around £100 for them which amazes me as mine heat better an can be had for £70. I try very hard to charge a sensible price for my units even though most other people seem to charge what they like. I try to charge a price that reflects the work needed to build and test the units without jumping on the get rich band wagon. Don't pay too much for you veg oil, Bio products. Shop around as most of it can be had for sensible prices. A good example is a valve I have seen. £50 it was for sale at as a Bio item. A careful check revealed a valve for £10 from a caravan supplier.
WHAT A WEEK THIS IS BEING 12/7/6
It is so hot that I am finding it difficult to get any work done. I have stripped the 205000 mile engine. There is as expected none of the doom and gloom I am sick of hearing about. Yes the valves are worn and the stem seals are leaking but after 205K you would expect that. I wish the back seat nay-sayers who have had precisely 0 hours experience would stop spreading rumors and listening to ill informed info. I still find it increasable that the AA, mechanics and others in the motor trade still think it is illegal. I do wish they would catch up. I appreciate that it seams unconventional but I think the thousands of people doing it will ultimately prove its sanity. Any who, the engine has been checked and again there is no glazing or additional coking of the cylinders or injectors. I will however be looking out for more engines that have been running on oil to see how they have faired. I really need to get my hands on one that hasn't been heated to compare but I don't intend to run one of mine unheated. I might be crazy but I am not mad.
Latest. 8/7/6
I have had the opportunity to strip a year old 140000 mile engine that has been running on the Vow2D on a 70-90% mix of oil and Diesel. No the engine didn't fail due to a fuel related problem but an engine oil leek. It would appear that the engine oil leaked out of the turbo and left the big end bearings and crank to fend for themselves. Needless to say they failed pretty quick. Having examined the head, pistons and valves I can report that the big glazing problem that everybody is so worried about hasn't materialized. the pistons and cylinders are immaculate. The valves and the head itself only shows signs of soot and the normal wear expected. NON of the predicted doom and gloom has occurred.
I have also got the opportunity to strip a 215000 mile engine that has also been on veg oil. This engine has a valve problem but it had started to smoke before it went on oil (Was a Taxi). It will however still be helpful to see what state the cylinders are in. I will keep you informed on what I find.
Custom units. 2/7/6
If you have a design that you need and I don't currently make it then please ask. I am happy to accommodate you as best I can. The cost will be reasonable for a bespoke unit and based on cost of materials and time spent making and testing the unit. It will not be based on a desire to extract as much cash as possible. but I must insist on a deposit before I make it. From time to time custom units will appear on Ebay as one off items. These have either been produced as test units or as a result of a customer request that went pear shaped. The current unit was requested but the customer didn't feel that is was value for money and decided he didn't want it (Hence the deposit).
Plugs.
We seem to be over the faulty plug problems of late with failure rates down to 1.6% in the first week. I have had reports of one or two failing after 5-6 months but the rest would still seem to be ok. I have however had 1 faulty relay reported which is very unusual. I do hope that isn't the start of a batch of faulty relays. I will keep you all posted if it is.
Pictures!
Despite promises and the best of intentions I am just not getting the feedback on make, model and engine size let alone pictures of installations. I know you are all busy but it really helps people trying to install theirs if there are lots of pictures. I would be most interested (and so would hundreds of you) in detailed locations for where you connect the ignition live. Many people Email asking for the best position for this. I am relying on you all to tell me as I am unable to check every make and model.

New developments 9/4/6
I have lowered all my prices in response to customer requests and to respond to poor quality copies. I figure if I can make and supply good quality units at the same price as the copies then nobody will be left with poor quality units and be disappointed with the performance. If anybody has bought a poor quality unit and are having problems then get in touch and I will help if I can.
New T unit.
I was asked by a customer to make him an adapter for a temp gauge. The gauges are from Ebay and are quite cheap. The unit has a M10 x 1.0 thread BUT DOES NOT come with the sensor. That will be supplied with the gauge. I will be listing some units on Ebay with a gauge included.
Cheek 25/3/6
I recently received an Email telling me that a customer had not fitted the units and no longer needed the units so was returning them presumably expecting a full refund. I Emailed back explaining that after the 7 day cooling off period (Required under the distance selling legislation) I was not obliged to accept them back unless they were faulty. He responded with Ok but they are in the post already. Charming! I have explained that I occasionally accept returns (1 other customer after discussion if there is a good reason) but there is a 30% restocking charge. I have informed the customer that the package will not be signed for and returned to him undelivered.
I would like to make the following very clear.
| "If you bought goods as a consumer within the meaning of the Distance Selling Regulations you have a 7 day “cooling off” period. we offer a 7 day return option to all customers in any event. Such items must be returned in resalable condition and in accordance with the packaging requirements below. |
| Products must be returned at your cost with proof of delivery being available upon request. |
| Goods returned under this option after the 7 day period will be subject to a 30% restocking fee. |
| All goods returned
must be securely packaged and returned in equivalent packaging to
that in which they were received. I cannot accept returns if
goods have been damaged in transit as a result of inadequate
packaging or are not in a resalable condition."
Using veg oil or alternative fuels is entirely at your own risk. Our heaters heat oil but it is your responsibility to make sure your can run on heated oil. We accept no liability for any damage to your vehicle from using our heaters. |
NEW UNITS 9/3/6
The new E and F water assisted units are now just about ready (Few more days before they are ready to ship). Testing has however revealed that they have to be set to 70oC max temp for them to work the way they were designed. This isn't a problem as far as getting the oil to a suitable temp for running but the rest of the units are set at 90oC. If they are set to 90oC they try and heat the coolant to 90oC which is a problem. 15mm couplings have been used to allow coolant hose fitting along with the normal fuel couplings. The one downside is the water makes the plugs work hard on startup as coolant is cold but once the water is up the plugs are far less stressed and in some tests never came back on. It was hoped that this unit would be better suited to higher fuel flows but testing has reveled that the 2D still puts out the best heating of all the units.
Faulty sensor 9/3/6
I had a report of a faulty sensor this week but I am still awaiting its return so that I can confirm this. The sensor failed open which means the plug is always off. This is a pain but the safest. All the sensors and plugs are tested before they are shipped but there is always one that gets through. The issue with loose sensors has now been resolved with heat resistant liquid metal used to ensure sensors stay put in there mounting collars. As yet no other problems have been reported but if they are they will be listed on this page. If a problem might be serious you will be Emailed with a warning as you were with the loose sensors problem. I try to ship a safe product that allows you all to help the environment and your pocket but ultimately your safety is my first concern.
Its the post again 5/3/6
It would seem that post outside the UK is not only more difficult to track but can be subject to long delays. In the UK next day can mean up to a week!!! Although nearly all are delivered in a couple of days. Airsure 4-7 days can mean 28 days!!!!!
It's a little frustrating but some packages to US and France seem to get held up in customs while others get straight through. I have no explanation for this but that's the way it seems to be. I know there is one parcel held up in France so please allow 28 Days for it to clear customs. Normally 1-4 days and the parcels arrive all over the world (Except Australia where it seems to take 4-10 days, mind it is a long way). I sent a replacement package to one customer in the US only for the original to finally clear customs the same day. I have looked at other services but they cost more and there is still no guarantee they will clear customs any quicker.
If your package is delayed then I apologies on behalf of the post service and Customs. Every effort is made to get your goods to you in a timely fashion.
Air Lock 2/3/6
I had an Email today that made a very good point. It doesn't seem to have caused any problems yet but it is well worth bearing in mind when fitting your units. This is what it said.
"I've noticed a "Vapor lock" if the unit is used with the glow plug on the top. This will reduce the contact area (oil to glow plug). It should be with the glow plug on the bottom so there will be no air pocket, and at a slight tilt so air will vent out. Danny Z"
NOT TRUE. UPRIGHT OR FLAT ON ITS BACK IS BEST.....
PAIN 27/2/6
I have gained an injury and am unable to work at any great speed at the moment. This does not affect any orders that are currently underway and I will be fighting fit by the end of the week, I hope. I have also suffered some broken tools (Trying to work while unable to hold the tools properly) and some minor supply problems this week. "I have had my 3 so it should all be smooth sailing now". I am still able to ship B and C units and hope to have a supply of As and Ds by the end of this week. You can still order one and I will ship as soon as I have them.
I now have time to move forward with the new water assisted heaters. The 2 new ones, E and F are single plug & water chamber, twin plug & water chamber. They will look similar to the C and D units but the lower chambers will be bigger and 15mm couplings used to allow connection to your heater matrix hoses. This allows the water to heat the unit taking the pressure off the plugs when water temp is up. There will still be no risk of fuel and oil mixing but there will be an increased level of fitting difficulty.
The new 2D units are ready 23/2/6
It has taken a while but testing is now complete on the 2D units. A limited supply is now available. The 2D offers the benefits of the 2B with its twin plugs and the 2C with its twin chambers.
The post issue has now been resolved and units should now arrive quickly and without getting lost on the way.
New Vow2D 17/2/6
The new Vow2D Twin plug Twin chamber heater is undergoing tests at the moment but already the results are looking good. It's hoped that it will allow larger engines to use the Vow2 heaters. Until now the only alternative was 2 2C but this was expensive. The C and B will be getting ever so slightly bigger as well. This is to allow slightly longer times within the chamber which will improve performance. This increase is only small but every little helps.
There are also 2 more Vow2 units in the pipeline that will also help the larger engines. Still on the drawing board as yet but I hope to be testing the first in a few weeks. I will keep you updated on its progress.
Copper test. 16/2/6
I received an Email some weeks ago that stated "WVO does not cause enough of a sludge deposit to block the filter" So being the person I am I wanted to know how much sludge can be generated from copper over a few weeks. I placed a length of pipe (300mm x15mm) in a tank of used veg (20lt) 5 weeks ago. I think the picture speaks for itself.
The worst end (right) was nearest the top of the tank and was in the more liquid end of the oil.
Granted this was a static test and yes with the fuel flowing it would "probably" never get this bad BUT it does prove that WVO does react with copper and any amount of this green gunk going through my pump would worry me.
Like most people if your reading this then you are doing your research and like me you will way up all the evidence and make your own mind up.
Now it's the post. 15/2/6
I have had some problems with the US post of late. One package was apparently stolen by a neighbor. One is a bit late but might still arrive. I use Internationally signed for and pay extra to ensure they get there quickly and securely. I have had many items delivered without problem. As from today I will be using Airsure as I can track the item to the door and get a copy of the signature. At present this is only £1 more than normal and I will cover this. If missing US parcels become a problem then another service will have to be found but that will mean a post increase.
The new gage everybody is asking for. 14/2/6
Work has been underway to fit the units with a temp gage. The current possibilities are a £40 gage and sensor, Provide a port with 1/4BSP, 1/8BSP or M10 1.75 for you to fit your own sensor and gage. Fit a simple tell tale or my pick buy a £10 thermometer with a lead and tie wrap this to the unit.
1. The gages and sensors available are expensive http://www.vehicle-wiring-products.co.uk/VWPweb2000/gauges/gauges.html#gen529 on top of which they will make the unit very expensive and the point in the first place was to make them as cheap as possible while still working well.
2. Providing a port for you to fit your own sensor is a better option as you may be able to source a cheap sensor. Perhaps a salvaged car water sensor and a switch to your water gage. This way costs are kept down and you don't need 2 gages. Simply use a switch to flip between water or oil temp. A range of threads can be cut in the unit to provide a port and thread converters are available to accommodate the sensor if the port is NOT the correct thread. If I adopt this method ALL units will be ported with a blanking plug fitted so that you can add a gage at any time in the future. This will add a few ponds to the price but it does give the best flexibility at the lowest cost.
3. I can fit a second low temp sensor connected to a panel mount Light. When you start the light is on, as the unit is cold. As it warms up the light goes out. If the plug fails the unit cools and the light comes back on. Granted you will only know that the temp is >20 and <90 but it works for Breaks, ABS and other car functions. Lets face it there is no sensor for the normal plugs. If it's hard to start the plugs have gone method is used. This method adds £15 to the unit price.
4. There are some thermometers with probes that will monitor the temp of the unit. Simply fastening the probe to the unit and placing the thermometer on the dash is by far the quickest and cheapest option. They can be found on Ebay and the web for under £10.
Please Email me with your view as you are the people this will affect.
Dissatisfied Customer. 14/2/6
Gutted. I had my first Customer to ask for a refund today. He has a 2.5L and a Vow2A. He says that no mater where in the fuel line he places the Vow2 it doesn't run well. I think he would have been better with a 2B or 2 Vow2A. I have asked him to return the unit and I will refund the Unit cost (Not the post) even though the unit is not faulty. I urge anybody thinking of fitting a Vow2 to think carefully about how big the engine is and how fast the fuel flows. The Vow2 range was originally designed for a 2L. The maximum heating effect is gained from having a Vow2 before the filter and one after the filter before the pump.
